The qualifying tournament of the World Cup 2015 in Canada was held from April 4, 2013 to December 2, 2014. On June 11, 2012, FIFA announced a change in the distribution of qualifying places for continental confederations. Since the number of teams participating in the final tournament increased from 16 to 24, the number of quotas belonging to regional confederations has also changed. The tournament hosts took one place, the confederations received 22 guaranteed places in the final tournament, another 1 place was won between the representatives of CONMEBOL and CONCACAF . The FIFA Executive Committee approved the following quota allocation:
- AFC (Asia): 5 places (previously - 3)
- CAF (Africa): 3 places (previously - 2)
- UEFA (Europe): 8 places (previously 4.5 + 1)
- OFC (Oceania): 1st place (as at the 2011 World Cup )
- CONCACAF (North, Central America, Caribbean): 3.5 places (previously 2.5)
- CONMEBOL (South America): 2.5 places (previously - 2)

Qualifying Tournament
Europe (UEFA)
8 teams entered the final tournament.
At the preliminary stage, eight teams were divided into two groups, of which 2 teams each entered the next round. At the second stage, 42 national teams were divided into seven groups of six teams. The winners of the groups directly got into the final stage. Four national teams with the best performance from the teams that took second place played the remaining ticket to the World Cup in the qualifying tournament, held in the playoff system.
South America (CONMEBOL)
Ten national teams of CONMEBOL within the framework of the America's Cup played two and a half tickets to the World Cup. The finalists of the tournament directly got to the world championship; the third-place team took part in intercontinental butt matches.
North America (CONCACAF)
Canada , as the organizer of the tournament, automatically received a ticket to participate in it. Initially, 28 teams participated in the qualifying tournament, there were 8 left for the final tournament of the CONCACAF Cup. The teams that took the first three places received direct tickets to the World Cup, and another team took part in intercontinental butt matches.
Africa (CAF)
During several qualifying rounds of the 26 national teams that started the qualifying round, 8 teams remained that played 3 tickets to the World Cup as part of the African Cup of Nations.
Asia (AFC)
20 teams participated, of which 8 teams entered the final tournament. The Asian Cup was held from May 14 to May 25, 2014. Teams that reached the semi-finals of the tournament directly qualified for the World Cup, and teams that took third place played an additional match for 5th place, giving another ticket to the world championship.
Oceania (OFC)
4 teams participated, which during the group tournament determined one team, which received a ticket to the World Cup.
