Biography
He graduated from the Novobug teacher's seminary. He worked as a school teacher in the Kherson province and Donbass .
Creator of the Project of the Ukrainian School (1913), leader of the movement for the creation of a national school in Ukraine (1917-1918, together with S. Rusova , S. Cherkasenko , A. Muzychenko ). One of the developers of the basic documents about the school and the organization of education in Ukraine. In 1918-1928 - teacher, vice-rector and professor of the Higher Institute of Public Education in Kiev, one of the organizers of the Pedagogical Institute in Kiev.
Since 1928 - an employee of the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Pedagogy in Kharkov , head of the methodology and didactics section of the pedology department at the Kharkov Institute of Public Education , an employee of the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Pedagogy (UNDIP), member of the State Scientific and Methodological Committee of the People's Commissariat of Ukraine.
In 1935-1936 - headed the Department of Pedagogy of the Mogilev Pedagogical Institute in Belarus. Then, he worked in Moscow and Stalinobad .
He is the author of more than 150 scientific papers on labor education, pedological direction, forms and teaching methods, the creator of textbooks for elementary school (primers, books for reading, problem books and methodological tips for them), methodological manuals for teachers.
October 13, 1937 was arrested by the Office of the NKVD in the Kharkov region on charges of participation in the anti-Soviet Ukrainian nationalist-terrorist organization. On November 20, 1937, the Troika, under the same management of the NKVD, was sentenced to 10 years in labor camps. He died of cardiovascular disease in the territory of Sevvostlag ( Nagaev Bay ). He was buried in the cemetery at the North-Eastern camp of the mine "Stakhanovets" Susumansky district of the Magadan region.
He was posthumously rehabilitated on April 15, 1958.
