Description
The purpose of the reserve is to protect a colony of algae from the genus Phyllophora .
Located in the waters of the Karkinitsky Gulf of the Black Sea. This is one of the four conservation sites in the Karkinitsky Bay (others: Swan Islands, Karkinitsky, partially Bakalskaya Spit).
The boundaries of the reserve are determined by the coordinates:
The nearest settlement is Krasnoperekopsk .
Nature
On the territory of the reserve 4 species of algae, 4 species of crustaceans, 7 species of fish, 1 species of bivalve mollusks and 3 species of marine mammals, which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, were recorded.
Dominant among the bottom vegetation are species of the genus red algae ( Rhodóphyta ) phyllophora ( Phyllophora ): Ph. crispa PS Dixon ( Ph. nervosa Grev. ); Ph. truncata Zinova ( Ph. brodiaei J. Ag ); Ph. pseudoseranoides Newr. ( Ph. Membranifolia J. Ag ), Ph. pseudoceranoides .
Off the coast: in shallow water, communities of sea grass develop a small sea-clown ( Zostera nana Hornem ), with depth they are replaced by phytocenoses a sea-clown ( Zostera marina ). The central part of the Karkinitsky Gulf is the habitat of the species of phyllophore of Crispus ( Ph. Crispa sf. Shaerica ) - spherical loose algae. The maximum projective cover of the bottom at the Small Phyllophore field refers to depths of 6-10 m, where there are areas of almost closed vegetation cover of phytocenoses phyllophores and zosters (seaside) .
In September 2008, 25 species of bottom vegetation were found in the floristic composition of the phytobenthos of the Karkinitsky Bay, including flowering macrophytes ( Thalassiophyta ), macroscopic algae (departments: green Chlorophyta , charophyte Charophyta and red Rhodophyta ), and blue-green algae ( Cyanophyta ).
