Physical Properties
Rubidium disulfide forms dark red crystals.
In a vacuum it melts at 420 ° C (450 ° C [1] ), when heated above 300 ° C without air, it gradually turns dark red, which disappears after cooling and rubbing the preparation. Above 850 ° C begins to sublimate.
Rubidium disulfide dissolves in water, forming a light blue solution from which white, very hygroscopic hydrates Rb 2 S 2 • l ÷ З Н 2 O crystallize.
