Ronneby is considered the heart of the Garden in Sweden, and in 2005 the Brunnsparken park ( Swede Brunnsparken ) was recognized as one of the most beautiful parks in the country, and in 2006 became the 4th among the most beautiful parks in Europe [1] .
Heliga Kors kyrka church was founded in the 12th century, reconstructed and expanded in the 15th century, and suffered greatly during the Northern Seven Years' War in the 16th century.
He received the rights of the city of Ronneby in 1387. In the Middle Ages was an important maritime trading city. In 1564, a bloody battle took place in the vicinity of the city during the Northern Seven Years' War between the Swedish and Danish armies, during which the Swedes, under the command of King Eric XIV, besieged the city, killed many inhabitants and burned it to the ground. Eric later reported that "the water was red from the blood of the Danes." The number of victims was greatly exaggerated by both sides.
After the treaty in Roskilde in 1658, according to which Blekinge and several other southern provinces became Swedish, the naval base of Karlskrona was built east of Ronneby, and Ronneby himself was deprived of the right of the city.
After a major fire in 1864, the city was completely rebuilt according to a new plan. In 1882, the status of the city was finally restored.
