Ilanz ( German Ilanz ) - a former commune in Switzerland , the district center, was located in the canton of Graubünden . It was part of the district of Surselva . The official code is 3574 . On January 1, 2014, the communes of Ilanz, Kastrish , Ladir , Louvain , Pitash , Riain , Rushain , Schnaus , Sevgain , Duvin , Pignyu , Roueoun and Siat were united into a new commune, Ilanz-Glion [1] .

First mentioned in written sources in 765 as Iliande [2] .
Geography
The area of the commune was 4.67 km². 24.9% of the territory was agricultural land; 50.6% - forests; 18.7% - buildings and roads; the remaining 5.7% are not used (rivers, mountains, glaciers) [3] . Located on the river Front Rhine .
Population
According to data for 2011, the population of the commune is 2327 people [3] . As of 2008, 15.4% of the population were citizens of other states [4] . As of 2000, 59.3% of the population called German as their mother tongue; 29.9% - Romansh and 3.3% - Serbo - Croatian [5] .
Gender composition of the population (for 2000): 45.2% are males and 54.8% are females [6] . Age composition: 9.9% - less than 9 years old; 14.0% - from 10 to 19 years; 12.3% - from 20 to 29 years; 15.2% - from 30 to 39 years; 13.9% - from 40 to 49 years; 11.5% - from 50 to 59; 8.4% - from 60 to 69 years; 8.0% - from 70 to 79 years; 5.5% are from 80 to 89 years old and 1.2% are over 90 years old [4] .
