It is part of the Kalanka commune of Moez County. The population of the commune is 35 people (as of December 31, 2013) [1] .
Until December 31, 2014, Kauko had the status of a community (commune). On January 1, 2015, together with a number of neighboring settlements, it became part of the new Kalanka community.
