Ferzam ( German: Versam ) is a village and former commune in Switzerland , in the canton of Graubünden . The population was 226 people in 2011. The official code is 3587 . On January 1, 2013, together with the communes of Valendas , Zafin and Tenna, it became part of the new commune Safintal , Surselva County [1] .

In the elections in 2007, the Swiss People's Party received the largest number of votes (42.6%), 9.1% voted for the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland , 30.7% voted for the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland , 16 for the Free Democratic Party , 7% [2] .

Geographical position
Before the merger, Ferzam's area was 16.77 km². 16.8% of the area was agricultural land, 70.6% - forests, 2% of the territory inhabited [2] .
History
In the Middle Ages, the area of Ferzam was a royal forest with several Roman farms. The commune was first mentioned in 1050 as a valle Versamia . In the XV century there was a complete Germanization of land. The Reformation began in 1523, the Church of Ferzam dates from 1634. The autonomy of the commune was recognized only in 1800 [3] . On January 1, 2013 the communes of Ferzam, Valendas , Zafin and Tenna merged into the new commune of Safintal .
Population
In 2011, the population of Ferzam was 226 people (48.6% of men, 51.4% of women) [4] . For 2000, 98.0% of the inhabitants spoke German, 1.6% spoke Romansh, and 0.4% spoke Spanish [2] . 13.7% of the population were under the age of 9 years, 12.9% - from 10 to 19 years old, 4.7% - from 20 to 29 years old, 16.1% - from 30 to 39 years old, 14.1% - from 40 to 49 years old, 9.8% - from 50 to 59 years old, over 60 years old there were 28.7% of the population [5] . In 2005, in Ferzam, the unemployment rate was 0.52% [2] .
