Islavin, Vladimir Alexandrovich

Vladimir Aleksandr Islavin (1818–1895) - member of the Council of the Minister of Agriculture and State Property, ethnographer, author of the book “Samoyeds in Home and Public Life” ( 1847 ), information for which he gathered from his trip ( 1844 ) to the Far North (on behalf of Ministry of State Property). Participated in correspondence with Leo Tolstoy .

Grandson of Count Peter Vasilievich Zavadovsky , illegitimate son of his daughter Sofia Petrovna and future Decembrist Alexander Mikhailovich Isleniev (1794-1882); Sophia Andreevna Tolstoy’s uncle [1] .

Since 1841 V.A. Islavin was in the public service.
