Description
Small weevils, length of females from 3.69 to 5.82 mm; rostrum (proboscis) 0.45–0.61 mm long. The main body color is from reddish brown to black. The integuments carry pressed scales (small and whitish), which have a sub-rounded shape and overlap behind; the head is slightly ventral; hind tarsus shorter than hind tibia; on all paws there are no bristle pads, but there are thick tweezers. Associated with plants such as wormwood ( Artemisia spinescens , Asteraceae ). Larvae are thought to feed on plant roots. The species was first described in 2015 by American entomologists Michael Jansen and Nico M. Franz; Arizona State University , Tempe , USA [1] .
