“Expansionist” ( Russian doc . "Razvzdchik" ) - Russian weekly illustrated bibliographic and scientific literature (since 1892 - military and literary) magazine. In 1889, it was reorganized from the “List of the office and warehouse of V. A. Berezovsky” (published since 1888 ). "Scout" was published in St. Petersburg until 1917 in the printing house Trenke and Fyusno. From 1901 to 1902, the free Scout for Soldiers also came out. The publisher and editor-in-chief of the magazine was the retired captain of the Russian army — the bookseller V. A. Berezovsky .

General Features
The Scout magazine was directly devoted to military topics. It addressed issues on the subject of military equipment, weapons, strategy, tactics and other military issues both in Russia and abroad. Articles were usually published by theorists and military practitioners.
All numbers featured biographies of prominent military figures and historical personalities. Also in the journal were published and the memoirs of officers of military campaigns.
In "Intelligence" was given a section for the regularly published Highest orders on the military department. It contained information on awards, production in ranks, appointments, transfers, resignations and death of officers, civilian officials of the Military Department, officials of the border guard and a separate corps of gendarmes.
The sections “Literature” , “New Books” and “Periodicals” were devoted to reviews, annotations and announcements of published editions.
