Antonovskoye ancient settlement - a medieval ancient settlement on the territory of the Almaty region , east of the aul Koylyk (formerly Antonovka), on the banks of the Aschy-Bulak River . It was investigated in 1964 by the Semirechenskoye and in 1997 by the Turkestan archaeological expedition (headed by K. M. Baipakov ). The city was surrounded by a wall with a height of 3.5–4.5 m. The length of the north-eastern side was 1200 m, the south-western side was 750 m. Remains of round towers located at a distance of 30–40 m from each other have been preserved, some of them are high 6-8 m. Pottery, glass, belts, and girths discovered during excavations date back to the 8th – 14th centuries. According to scientists, the Antonovskoye fortification is the location of the ancient city of Kayalyk - the capital of the Karluk state in the XII-XIII centuries.
