Purpose

Ural-4320 was designed to transport goods, people and trailers on all types of roads.

History

The production of trucks and chassis of the Ural-4320 line was started on November 17, 1977 [1] and in fact this series is still being produced, although in a substantially modernized form.

The main difference between the Ural-4320 and the Ural-375D carburetor line is its economical and high - torque diesel engine . In 1986, more than a million trucks were produced. Initially, the Ural-4320 was equipped with a KamAZ-740 diesel engine, but as a result of a fire at the KamAZ engine plant on April 14, 1993, the supply of this engine to third-party manufacturers ceased, and engines began to be installed on the Ural-4320 (as well as all subsequent models and modifications of the Ural trucks) YaMZ-236 and YaMZ-238 of the Yaroslavl Motor Plant . Due to the resulting shortage of diesel engines, some of the Ural-4320 produced in 1993-1994. It was forced to be equipped with a ZIL-375 carburetor engine, that is, the production of the Ural-375D model was actually extended, but with the plumage of the 4320 engine compartment. Initially, modifications with the YaMZ-238 engine differed in appearance by a longer engine compartment, and cars with the YaMZ-236 engine remained the same engine compartment as for cars with the KAMAZ-740 engine (the difference is for cars with the YaMZ-236 air filter on the right wing due to a different, denser layout of the engine compartment). Since the mid-2000s, all cars, regardless of engine model, have been produced with an extended engine compartment.

Since the mid-1990s, a wide bumper with headlights appeared on the Ural-4320 and Ural-5557, and plastic plugs appeared in the wings, at the old headlights. However, exclusively for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, by special order, until now [ when? ] cars with a narrow bumper and headlights in the wings are supplied. Since 1996, the production of a lightweight biaxial (4x4) 4.2-ton Ural-43206 truck, structurally completely identical to the tri-axle Ural-4320, has begun.

Ural-43206 with IVECO cabless cab

In 2009-2014 small-series cabins of the Iveco “P” type (manufactured by the UralAZ-IVECO joint venture) with the original rounded integral fiberglass hood plumage (“-57” and “-58” configurations) were installed in small series on cars of the 4320 series. In the future, such a cabin began to be installed on the Ural-4320 chassis and in a hoodless version. With the transition to Euro-4 engines on the Ural-4320, only modern diesel engines of the YaMZ-6565 and YaMZ-536 series began to be used.

In 2014, in order to increase the reliability of chassis components and assemblies and increase mileage before overhaul, the Ural-4320 series was upgraded to the Ural-M series while maintaining the 4320 type cab.

In the fall of 2015, the Ural-M series was upgraded to the Ural Next series by installing a new generation of GAZelle Next cabs with the original plastic plumage of the engine compartment, as well as a number of improved components and assemblies.

Armored Army Modifications

Ural-4320-09-31

An armored vehicle based on the Ural-4320-31 with a cabin molded from a single armored plate, with armored windows, fire holes , powerful safe doors equipped with locks with internal lock.

The cab floor, rear wall and roof are also made of armored plate, in the roof there is an armored hatch that can be used as a machine gun nest . The cabin has become a double, with separate seats. On the vacated place, special equipment was installed: night-vision devices , radiation and chemical reconnaissance, army radio station, etc. In addition to the usual “stove”, a filter-ventilation unit (FVU) is mounted on the roof.

The car has a steel “mask” on the radiator; sidewalls and hood are made of armored plate. The box with the battery and the fuel tank are also armored. An armored module for 15-20 fighters can be installed in the body under the awning. Inside there are only wooden benches.

Ural-E4320D-31 (Ural-4320-0010-31)

An armored multi-purpose vehicle of the unified family “Motovoz-1” with an armored functional module mounted on the vehicle’s platform, designed to transport various cargoes, personnel and tow towed systems on all types of roads and terrain. It was developed on the basis of the Ural-4320-31 vehicle of the 6 × 6 type. The armored car has increased protection against small arms fire and anti-mine resistance. It was first presented at the Russian Expo Arms-2009 exhibition in Nizhny Tagil. On June 10, 2011, at a military equipment show at the NIIITs AT 3 training ground of the Central Research Institute of the RF Ministry of Defense in Bronnitsy, the car was presented as Ural-4320-0010-31.

Casspir Mk6

An MPVI armored vehicle ( Mine Protected Vehicle for India ) manufactured by Defense Land Systems India (DLSI), a Mahindra & Mahindra and BAE Systems joint venture, in a Prithla-owned Mahindra & Mahindra factory near Faridabad , Haryana . The Jharkhand government ordered six of these vehicles due to the need to combat statewide pro-Maoist rebel groups .

The machine is made in the form of a design based on an all-welded V-shaped body and the basis of the chassis of the Ural-4320 truck family. Modifications with 4 × 4 and 6 × 6 wheel formulas are offered, equipped with a YaMZ-236NE2 turbo - charged diesel engine (maximum power 230 hp. / 169 kW) and a YaMZ-236U mechanical gearbox. This decision was chosen to reduce the cost of the car, the cost of which is claimed from 350 thousand dollars. According to the statement of business development director of BAE Systems Land Systems South Africa Johan Jooste, "the use of elements of the Urals has reduced the cost by a third.

In the embodiment with the formula 6 × 6, the vehicle has a length of 7.59 m, a width of 2.67 m, a clearance of 380 mm, a combat weight of 14.32 tons. The armored car can accommodate up to 18 people, placed in individual outboard shockproof seats and can be made in the form of an armored personnel carrier , multi-purpose or command vehicle. It is stated that during the tests the car withstood without detriment to the personnel the detonation of a twenty-kilogram charge under the wheel (the reliability was confirmed by the video of the corresponding tests posted on the Internet [2] ) and a fourteen-kilogram charge under the car body. Possible hitch additional ballistic protection [3] .

The armored vehicle was designed according to the Motovoz-2 program according to the technical requirements of the Main Command of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on the basis of the chassis of the Ural-4320 6 × 6 multi-purpose vehicle. The armored car is equipped with the Euro-4 standard YaMZ engine, has anti-mine protection and is designed with a single-volume armored vehicle body, which can accommodate up to 17 fighters with full weapons. The layout of the armored car is free, which allows you to install on it various options for combat modules and equipment, depending on the assigned operational tasks.

The car was first presented in 2013 at the Russian Arms Expo-2013 in Nizhny Tagil. This car will become the basis for a whole family of tactical protected vehicles with a high degree of unification and different wheel formulas.
