The Conference on the Use of Esperanto in the Field of Science and Technology ( Esper. Konferenco pri Aplikoj de Esperanto en Scienco kaj Tekniko ; abbr. KAEST ) is a series of seminars and conferences specializing in the scientific and technical use of the Esperanto language, held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia . Between 1978 and 1989 The event was organized by the scientific and technical section of Czechoslovak Esperantists, entitled Seminar on the Use of Esperanto in Science and Technology ( Esper. [Seminario pri] Apliko de Esperanto en Scienco kaj Tekniko ; abbreviated [S] AEST ) . After a pause from 1998, the Czech Esperanto Union ( Ĉeĥa Esperanto-Asocio ) continued the tradition in collaboration with the agency KAVA-PECH. Since 2010, the organization of the event was undertaken by the company E @ I.

The first period (1978-1989)
The meetings were organized alternately by the Slovak and Czech Union of Esperantists. The meetings held in the Czech Republic were called seminars (SAEST).

The second period (1998-2008)
In 1998, the Czech Esperanto Union, together with the Czech company KAVA-PECH, revived [S] AEST as a regular conference or colloquium called KAEST. The Slovak Union of Esperantists at this stage did not participate in the organization of meetings.

Third Period (2010—)
The conference takes place every two years in November in the Slovak city of Modra under the auspices of the youth educational organization E @ I.

Solo events
KAEST 2002
During KAEST 2002, Chuck Smith made a presentation on Wikipedia: Multilingual Internet Encyclopedia as part of his European tour to promote Wikipedia in Esperanto , which was then hardly a year old. This prompted the Czech Esperantist Miroslav Malovec to found the Czech Wikipedia , the first interface of which he translated into Czech with Esperanto with the help of Chuck [2] .
KAEST 2004
During KAEST in 2004, 11 lectures were held followed by discussions. Presentations were made by Marc Bavant and Otto Haszpra ( members of the Esperanto Academy ), Wera and Detlev Blanke, Jan Werner, Miroslav Malovec, Rüdiger Sachs, Boĵidar Leonov, Heinz Hoffmann, Martin Minich and Josef Hron. Many projects were presented.
KAEST 2006
The KAEST 2006 theme was combined with the weekly seminar “Languages on the Internet” organized earlier by E @ I in Brno in cooperation with the Czech Esperanto Youth Club. The participants in the week-long seminar, mainly young people, also participated in KAEST afterwards, some made presentations ( Peter Balazh , Marek Blahuš, Viliam Búr, Alla Kudryashova, Clayton Smith).
KAEST 2008
At KAEST 2008, Francesco Maurelli spoke on the autonomous underwater robot project. As a new program, a two-day workshop on Wikipedia was organized under the guidance of Pavla Dvořáková and Yves Nevelsteen.
KAEST 2010
KAEST in 2010, the first organized by E @ I , after 22 years returning to Slovakia (the event was held in the city of Modra Harmonia). 52 people from 15 countries participated. A three-hour Wikipedia training was also organized (led by Pavla Dvořáková and Marek Blahuš). The KAEST program included guided tours, TED and Esperanto films, ISAE meetings, and various presentations. Among the speakers was Petr Chrdle with a presentation on the history of KAEST and SAEST and a presentation of E @ I and its activities.
During KAEST 2010, 34 reports were heard. [3] [4] Presentations are available on the Internet [5] , and from July 2011 a collection of conference reports (paper and electronic versions) also began to be published. KAEST 2012
KAEST 2012 was held from November 15 to 18, 2012 in Modra Harmony in Slovakia , as well as KAEST 2010. Wikipedia training was also held for beginners and continuing [8] .
KAEST 2014
KAEST 2014 was held from November 13 to 16, 2014 again in Modra Harmony in Slovakia under the theme "Archives and libraries - how to protect and preserve our heritage." In parallel, a seminar on education and support for activists (AMO-6) was organized by the World Esperanto Association .
