Biography

He began to play sports in his native city, at first concentrated on tennis , even became the champion of the city, but soon became involved in wrestling. [3] He was spotted at competitions and moved to Eger , where he joined the club Egri Vasas Birkózó Club

In 1971, for the first time became the champion of Hungary and took fourth place in the World Cup.

At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, he fought featherweight (up to 62 kilograms). The tournament regulations were charged with penalty points, no penalty points were awarded for a clear victory, 0.5 penalty points were awarded for a victory with a clear advantage, 1 point for a victory in points, 2 or 2.5 points for a draw, for a defeat with an obvious advantage for the opponent 3.5 points and for a pure defeat 4 points. The wrestler, who scored 6 penalty points, was eliminated from the tournament (except in cases where he won in the meeting in which he went over the penalty points) 19 wrestlers challenged the title.

Having won one and lost two meetings, Laszlo Reci dropped out of the tournament.

In 1973, he was fourth at the European Championships and won the bronze medal of the World Cup. In 1974, he repeated the result both at the European Championship and at the World Championship. In 1975 he became a three-time bronze medalist of the World Cup, and at the European Championships he dropped to the fifth step.

At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, he fought featherweight (up to 62 kilograms). The tournament regulations remained basically the same. The title was disputed by 17 wrestlers.

For Laszlo Reci, the tournament was extremely successful: by the final round he was in the lead, having only two penalty points, ending four meetings ahead of schedule, and even finally defeating his eternal rival, the clear favorite Nelson Davidyan . However, he lost the final meeting with Kazimierz Lipen unconditionally, with a clear advantage, and this defeat threw him even to the third step of the podium. Laszlo Rechi explains the defeat of the accumulated fatigue for the final meetings [4]
