Biography
He started wrestling in 1968 at the Lika club in Sombor.
In 1970, he ranked second at the European Championship in the espoir age category, in 1972 at the World Championships in the same age category, remained fourth, at the European Championships among adults was the fifteenth. In 1973, he took the third place in the European Championship among adults, and in the World Championship he was fourth. In 1974, at the European Championships, was only the sixth, but won the bronze medal at the World Championships. In 1975, he won the European champion title, and was sixth at the World Championships.
At the Summer Olympics in 1976 in Montreal, fought in the lightest weight (up to 57 kilograms). The tournament rules were with accrued penalty points, no penalty points were accrued for a clear victory, 0.5 penalties accrued for a victory with a clear advantage, 1 point for points victory, 2 or 2.5 points for a draw, and a clear advantage for a defeat 3.5 points and for a net defeat 4 points. The wrestler, who collected 6 penalty points, was eliminated from the tournament (except when he won in the meeting in which he went through penalty points) The title was contested by 17 wrestlers.

In the first final meeting, he won Farhat Mustafin due to the disqualification of the latter, and in the second, against Pertti Ukkola, with a minimum margin of one point, he lost and became the silver medalist of the games. At the same time, for fifteen seconds before the end of the meeting, Froghich won 4–3, lost concentration for a second and lost two points. The Yugoslav delegation protested, but it was not satisfied.

In 1977 he won the title of champion of the Mediterranean Games and won the bronze medal at the World Championships. In 1978 he became the silver medalist at the World Championships, the eighth at the European Championships and in the same year he moved to a semi-lightweight. In 1979, he remained sixth at the World Championships and won the title of champion of the Mediterranean Games for the second time. In 1980 was the fifth in the European Championship.
At the Summer Olympics in 1980 in Moscow, fought in a featherweight (up to 62 kilograms). The tournament regulations remained basically the same. The title was contested by 11 wrestlers.
After losing in the fifth round, he dropped out of a further tournament, gaining the same amount of penalty points with Boris Kramarenko , but due to the fact that he lost in a personal meeting, he remained in fourth place, and Kramarenko won a bronze medal.

Ivitsu Frgich was noted as a very persistent and motivated wrestler. The famous Soviet coach Viktor Igumenov in 1975, after Ivica Frigic won the World Championship, said that “Give me this guy for a year, and in reply, I will sign that in a year he will become a world champion rank for at least the next five years. He is truly an exceptional talent and I do not see wrestlers in the world more promising than him. ” [3]
