Biography

In 1959 she graduated with honors from Perm University , in 1966 she defended her thesis, in 1981 at the Botanical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences ( Leningrad ) - her doctorate.

In 1981-2002 - Head of the Department of Plant Morphology and Systematics (from November 24, 1993 - Department of Botany and Plant Genetics), Perm University .

The academic title of professor was awarded in 1983.

From 1983 to 1989 - Dean of the Faculty of Biology of Perm University .

Since 1995 - a full member of the International Academy of Ecology and Life Safety Sciences.

Scientific and educational work

He teaches students the general fundamental courses "Genetics with the basics of selection", "General cytology", she developed new courses for the department on plant embryology and cultural flora. She improved her qualifications at Moscow , Novosibirsk , and St. Petersburg universities. In 1992, she completed an internship in Oxford .

The main content of scientific activity is research on plant reproductive biology, including cytoembryology and cytogenetics.

Participant in the All-Union Symposiums on Embryology, Congresses of the Botanical Society and the Society of Genetics and Breeders, the XII International Botanical Congress, XI and XV International Symposia on Reproductive Biology (1991, St. Petersburg ; 1998, Netherlands ).

Organizer of several All-Union and Republican meetings and two symposia on reproductive biology, held at Perm University (1987, 1991).

V. A. Vereshchagina has created a direction of scientific research “Reproductive biology of higher plants”, including cytoembryology and cytogenetics . She is the founder of the specialization “Genetics and Breeding” and the author-developer of the master program “Genetics” at Perm University .

Member of the Academic Council of the University, Executive Editor of the Biology issues of Vestnik of Perm University, Chairman of the Council for the defense of doctoral dissertations in the fields of Botany and Ecology.

In 1996-2000, a council for the defense of candidate dissertations (biological sciences, specialty - botany), headed by V. A. Vereshchagina, acted at Perm University; In 2001–2015, she headed the council for the defense of doctoral and master's theses in biological sciences, specializing in botany and ecology (biology).

In 2011, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences awarded V. A. Vereshchagina the honorary title “Founder of the Scientific School of Reproductive Plant Biology for Selection” at PSNIU .

The author of more than 100 scientific papers, including the manuals “Genetics and Selection” (1999) and “Plants of the Kama Region” (2000); the training manual "Fundamentals of General Cytology" was published in the second edition with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (Publishing Center "Academy", Moscow, 2007), in collaboration with her students published the monograph "Reproductive Biology of Species of the Genus Medicago L."

Under her leadership, 9 candidate and 2 doctoral dissertations were completed and defended.
