About the album
The group began work on the album in November 2013 and by April had prepared 15 songs, 10 of which were included in 1000hp . The recording took place in the capital of the native state of Godsmack, Massachusetts - Boston [1] . The producer was Dave Fortman , who previously worked with Superjoint Ritual , Mudvayne , Otep , Slipknot and others. The sound has become simpler and more straightforward, with an attraction to the elements of punk rock [2] .
As the album progressed, a private party was organized for media representatives hosted by Godsmack founder Sally Erna and Republic Records co-founder Avery Lipman. The event took place at Quad Recording in New York in the summer of 2014 [3] . Also on the Internet radio iHeart was shown 5 videos, including backstage shooting and interviews of musicians covering the process of creating 1000hp .
For the most part, music critics greeted the album with positive feedback. Gregory Heaney ( Allmusic ) approved the directness and aggression of 1000hp , the absence of excesses and unnecessary frills in the album [4] . Chad Bower ( About.com ) called 1000hp quality and fresh material [5] . Maura Johnston ( Boston Globe ) described the sound of the album as lean, evil and a little nostalgic [6] .
