In the women's tournament, the European team became (for the 2nd time in its history) the Scottish team . Seven best women's teams qualified for the 2012 World Cup .

The tournament in group C was held in Thornby ( Denmark ) from September 30 to October 8, 2011. In the men's and women's tournaments, the two best teams in the same year participated in the group B. tournament. [1]

Championship System

In both men and women, competitions were held in two groups - A (main division) and B (second most important division).

Men
  • Group A At the preliminary stage, 10 teams held a one-round tournament, according to the results of which the top four went to the playoffs (in case of equality of victories, additional matches were held for reaching the playoffs - tie-break). The two best teams held a match for a direct hit in the finals (playoffs-1). The 3rd and 4th teams played for reaching the semifinals (playoffs-2). In the semifinals, the loser in the first match met and the winner in the second. In the final, gold medals were contested by the winners of the playoffs and semifinals. 3rd place is played by losers in the playoffs and semifinals. The two worst teams in the preliminary stage are eliminated in group B.
  • Group B. The 16 teams that made up group B at the preliminary stage are divided into two subgroups, where they held one-round tournaments. According to their results, the two best teams from the subgroups reached the playoffs. The winners of the subgroups held a match for a direct hit in the finals (playoffs-1). The second team played for reaching the semifinals (playoffs-2). The further draw is similar to that in group A. The finalists will enter group A of the next European Championship.
Women
  • The draw system is similar to men's. The difference is only in the number of teams participating in group B (10 national teams) and the absence among them of division into subgroups.
