North America (Atlantic coast): USA ( Louisiana , Texas ) [1] .
Description
Butterflies of small sizes with front wings pointed to the apex. The span of the front wings of males is from 16.5 to 18 mm, and females are from 15.5 to 18.5 mm. Similar in appearance to Doryodes broui . Fore wings whitish or yellowish brown; have longitudinal stripes. The antennae of females are filiform, in males they are comb-like. The abdomen is elongated, eyes are round, ocelli are absent. The species was first described in 1918 by entomologists William Barnes (1860-1930) and James Halliday McDunnough (1877-1962). The valid status of the taxon was confirmed during a genus audit conducted in 2015 by American entomologists Donald Lafontaine , Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Ottawa , Canada ) and Bolling Sullivan ( J. Bolling Sullivan ; Beaufort, USA ) [1 ] [2] .
