Alexey Pludek ( Czech Alexej Pludek ; January 29, 1923 , (now Olomouc Region , Czech Republic ) - September 7, 2002 , Prague ) - Czech and Czechoslovak writer, playwright, editor, social and political activist.

Biography

The son of a worker. He studied at the gymnasium. During World War II - in forced labor. After his release, he was a librarian, then studied at the Academy of Political and Social Sciences (1946-1950). At the same time in 1948-1950 he worked as editor of the journal Haló Nedělní noviny . Since 1951 he edited the daily newspaper Mladá fronta. After two years of military service in 1953, he became a playwright on Czechoslovak television, since 1956 - editor of the State Publishing House of Children's Books.

From 1967 - editor of the publishing house of fiction Práce , from 1972 to 1973 - editor of “Literárního měsíčníku”.

After he devoted himself to literary work.

Engaged in public activities, was a member of the Central Scout Council. He visited India several times (from 1967 to 1989), was a member of the Czechoslovak-Indian Committee. After 1990, he was involved in politics: in the elections to the Federal Assembly in 1992, he became a deputy from the Left bloc. In the same year, he founded the Slavic Union of the Czech Republic - a nationalist organization whose goal was to protect the Czechs and, in general, the Slavs from a foreign, mainly German threat.

Creativity

Debuted in 1947. The author of psychological and socio-political novels and plays, science fiction and historical works, books for children and youth.
