Russian Kukmor ( Mar. Rush Kukmariy [2] , from Kuk , Kuryk - “mountain” and Mari - “Mariets”) is a village in the Medvedevsky district of the Republic of Mari El of Russia . The administrative center of the Russian-Kukmorsky rural settlement . The population is 1883 [1] (2014) people.

Content

Name Etymology

The names "Kukmar", "Kukmor", "Kukmur" are phonetic variants of one word. By origin, “Kukmariy” (“Kukmar”) consists of two words: Kuk kuryk - “mountain”, “mountain” and Mari - “Mari” - “ mountain Mari ”. The name means that the first settlers were the Mari from the right bank of the Volga River .

Geographical position

It is located 20 km east of the administrative center of the village. Medvedev and 15 km east of the capital of the republic, the city of Yoshkar-Ola .

It is located along the banks of the Pestra River at its confluence with the Monaga River.

History

During the reign of Catherine II , the village of Kukmor was formed behind the village of Yezhovo . Gradually, peasants from other provinces began to come here. The population of the village in 1763 was small: 16 men, 17 women.

The first settlers of the village uprooted the forest, shrubs, prepared arable land suitable for sowing grain crops. In 1838, the village of Russian Cookmore had 70 yards, where 222 male souls lived.

The Pestra River, which originates in ravines, divides the village into 2 parts. One part of the village, located at the intersection, was called Verkhotina. The other part from the alley to the end was called Nizmin, the rest of the village residents were called Zareka and Pochinok. The keys in the ravines had their names: Fedorov, Mishenin, Akayev. At the end of the village there was a gate called Field.

In Russian Kukmor there was a small wooden, sheathed church. On major religious holidays, the priest of the Surtovo Church conducted the service.

In addition to 4 windmills near the Russian Kukmor, a water mill was built on the Monaga River. There was a creamery in the village.

Among the first classmate Zemstvo schools was Russian-Kukmorskoe. It opened in 1878 , and in 1905 it was transformed into an elementary school. Classes were held in a private house. In 1913, the school was located in a new building.

As of January 1, 1923, there were already 120 peasant households in the village, where 580 residents lived.

In January 1931, a collective farm named after Ilyich was formed on the territory of the village. In 1934, the collective farm had 48 horses, a poultry farm, a forge, a forest dryer, and a windmill. The collective farm received large incomes from growing flax. In 1935, a tractor first appeared on the collective farm field.

64 residents of the Russian Kukmor village did not return from World War II . Of these, 17 people died, 37 went missing, 10 people died from wounds.

After the war ended, a first-aid post began to work on the Ilyich collective farm. On the territory of the collective farm were a post office and a store.

In the 1950s and early 1960s, the unification of small collective farms with larger ones took place. 8 small collective farms located on the territory of the Russian-Kukmorsk administration were merged into a collective farm named after Lenin. With the creation of this agricultural enterprise, the material situation of the villagers began to improve.

By the end of 1965, due to the transfer of land from the Semenovsky and Azanovsky state farms, the Surtovsky state farm was established with a fruit and berry direction. He had 3439 hectares of land. The number of livestock by this time was: cattle - 608 heads, including cows - 384; horses - 41 heads, 66 bee families. There were 32 tractors, 24 plows, 11 seeders, 10 mowers, 8 grain harvesters, cars and other agricultural machinery.

The central estate was built according to the general plan. In the residential area, multi-storey buildings with amenities, a children's factory for 140 people, a dining room for 50 seats, a shop, a comprehensive reception center, a hotel, a Culture House for 300 people with a gym and other socio-cultural and household facilities were erected.

In 2001, in the village of Russkiy Kukmor, there were 507 yards, where 1850 people lived, 457 private farms. By 2002, 586 people lived in 503 private houses in the village, and 1266 people lived in 15 departmental houses.
