Story
The film takes place in Moscow , during the days of the international chess tournament . The whole city is staggered by chess fever. The young man ( Vladimir Vogel ) is so passionate about chess that he misses his own wedding. The grotesque also manifests itself in the appearance of the protagonist: socks, a tie, a cap, a handkerchief, a scarf - all in a checkerboard pattern. However, the then World Chess Champion Capablanca saves the couple from seemingly inevitable disagreement. In the movie you can see a lot of world chess stars of that time, among them Carlos Torre , Frank Marshall , Frederick Yates and Richard Reti .
