Chitose (Chitose) (千 歳) is a lightweight Japanese aircraft carrier of the Imperial Navy of Japan during the Second World War , the first of two ships of the same type .

Service History
It entered service on July 25, 1938 as a hydrocarrier . In 1943, it was converted into a light aircraft carrier in Sasebo, re-entered service on January 1, 1944, and was assigned to the Third Fleet. [one]
He participated in several battles in the Pacific, including the Battle of Midway. He covered the landing during the seizure of East India and New Guinea. May 22, 1944 was easily damaged by the hit of two unexploded torpedoes of the American submarine Bonefish. It was sunk during the battle in Leyte Bay on October 25, 1944.
