The Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone is a free economic zone located in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Korea . The Daegu-Gyeongbuk FEZ is divided into 8 segments spread over a more than 20-kilometer area in the Daegu metropolis in Gyeongsangbukdo province ( Gyonbuk ) (the cities of Pokhan , Gyongsan and Yongchon ). According to the data of January 2014, in the FEZ Tegu-Gyonbuk there are 150 organizations of various profiles, attracting more than $ 2 billion in investment.

5.5 million people live in the Tagu-Könbuk region and more than 13% of the national production facilities are located, including the transnational corporations Samsung , LG , Hyundai and POSCO . The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone specializes in 4 main industries: information technology, high-tech delivery systems, green energy and science and knowledge services. [1] In 2020, it is planned to complete the development of these areas. Representative offices of the FEZ Tegu-Gyeongbuk are located in Tegu and Seoul .

History
The Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone was established by the government of the Republic of Korea on May 6, 2008, and the management offices were opened on August 13, 2008 . At present, the authorized commissioner of the FEZ Daegu Gyeongbuk is Byun-Rok Choi. [2]
Sonso Industrial District
The industrial district of Sonso is a complex of high-tech companies specializing in the automotive and instrument-making industry, as well as the introduction of information technology.
In January 2011, the Sonso industrial area was assigned to the Daegu research area, therefore it is no longer part of the FEZ TK, although several foreign companies are still located in the complex. [3] In April 2011, Samsung LED and Japanese company Sumimoto Chemical announced their intention to invest 460 billion won in the FEZ (approx. $ 425 million) to form a joint venture producing central elements of LEDs (Sapphire plates) in the 5th high-tech industrial Sonso complex. [4] Stion (USA), a manufacturer of solar cells using a thin film of copper-indium-gallium selenide, reported its intention to invest $ 320 million in the spring of 2012 in the Sonso district. [five]
Gyeongsang Area of Research and Development (R & D)
The Gyeongsang site is still under construction. Upon completion, this site will be equipped for R & D and production of construction equipment and medical devices. It is planned to establish cooperation between the Gyeongsang district and a narrow group of private educational institutions in the region. [6]
Fashion and Design District Eziapolis
Eziapolis is a fashion district that combines advertising, industry and the provision of housing and space. Eziapolis provides space for clothing stores, restaurants and other entertainment businesses. The district also includes numerous model textile institutes of education and R & D: Tegu Textile Center, Korean Polytechnic College of Fashion and Textiles, Korean Fashion Industry Research Institute. The Teguu International School, which opened in September 2010, is also part of Eziapolis. [7]
Center for International Culture
Focuses on the gaming industry. Designated by the central government as a region for popularizing culture in April 2008. Currently, there are about 109 cultural and technological companies located in the district, with plans to expand the activities of the Media Broadcasting Center and the Game Complex [8]
Daegu Technopolis
Must become a leading high-tech research center in Southeast Asia. Combines research and development , education and high-tech environmentally friendly industry. In the framework of the district, branches and institutes of national institutes and universities have been established and operate, specializing in industrial convergence from automotive, telecommunications and electronics to the development of environmentally friendly energy sources. Suson Medical District
He assumed the role of the center of Oriental medicine in Korea, combining traditional Eastern and Western medicine. It is a kind of pilgrimage center for alternative medicine researchers. Medical district Suson aims to attract the interest of foreign medical institutions, the School of Medics, institutions for medical tourism and research enterprises.
Sinso Medical Technical District
Located within the city of Daegu innovation. It represents a number of high-tech medical enterprises worth at least 5.6 trillion won ($ 4.6 billion). [ten]
Technopark Yonchon
Industrial and industrial complex. In the area there is a fleet of vehicles supplying spare parts to the nearest car manufacturing enterprises, including Hyundai Motors . In the future, it will supply the Air Force of the Republic of Korea with components of avionics. [eleven]
Yonchon Industrial District
The area is specialized in the logistics and production of spare parts for the automotive industry, avionics. Support and technological expertise will be provided by the Gyonbuk Institute of Hybrid Technologies and the Gyonbuk Research Institute of Transport and Innovation Technologies.
Technological Association Pohan
Located in the center of the energy cluster of the east coast of Korea. The largest wind turbine and nuclear power plant complexes in the country operate within the cluster. The area is also known for the location of the best research institutes in the country. In this area, there is the only particle accelerator laboratory in Korea.
