Avraamov, Georgy Nikolaevich

Georgy Nikolayevich Avraamov (January 18, 1928 - October 4, 2004) - hereditary naval officer, participant in the Great Patriotic War , deputy commander of the Baltic Fleet , head of the Black Sea Higher Naval Order of the Red Star of the P. S. Nakhimov School , vice admiral . After retiring, he worked as a senior fellow at the Central Naval Museum branch of the cruiser Aurora .

Biography

Georgy Nikolaevich Avraamov was born on January 18, 1928 in Sevastopol in the family of a naval officer N. Yu. Avraamov and his wife Tamara Nikolaevna. In January 1932, his father was appointed a teacher at the Naval Academy. MV Frunze , and the whole family moved to Leningrad [1] .

During the Great Patriotic War

In 1941-1943, George was in besieged Leningrad. He was mobilized by a volunteer, and became an ordinary soldier of the local air defense squad. He carried watch on the roof of the house of the command staff of the VVMU, and during enemy raids, he repeatedly extinguished incendiary bombs [2] [3] .

In January 1943, his father was appointed head of the Jung School, located on the Solovetsky Islands . George went to the North with his father and became a young man. Together with him, he studied and subsequently became his friend, the future writer-marinist V. S. Pikul [4] .

In September 1943, Avraamov enrolled as a cadet at the Baku Naval Preparatory School . In 1944 he was transferred to the newly created Leningrad Naval Preparatory School , which was headed by his father. May 1, 1945 participated in the parade on Palace Square in Leningrad. February 9, 1946 was awarded the medal " For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. " [5] .

Post-war years

In 1946, he became a cadet at the Higher Naval School. M.F. Frunze. In 1950, after graduating from the school, he was promoted to lieutenant and received an appointment for further service in the Baltic Fleet (BF). He served on destroyers as a group commander, warhead commander, and then as senior assistant to the ship commander . In 1960 he was appointed commander of the destroyer Stepheny , in 1961 he was transferred to the post of commander of the anti-submarine ship PLK-9 ( project 159 ), and in 1965 he was appointed commander of the destroyer Elusive (in 1966, the destroyer was retrained into a large missile ship ) [6] [3] .

In 1966 he graduated in absentia from the Naval Academy . In 1967 he was appointed chief of staff, and then commander of the brigade of landing ships of the Baltic Naval Base (Navy) [7] . In 1971 he was appointed chief of staff of Liepaja naval base. Since 1974, he served as deputy chief of staff of the Baltic Fleet for combat training - chief of combat training of the fleet, and later was appointed deputy commander of the Baltic Fleet [3] [7] .

In 1981 he was appointed head of the Black Sea Higher Naval School. P.S. Nakhimova. In 1984, he was awarded the title of Vice Admiral . He served as the head of the school until 1987 [7] .

In 1987, he was dismissed, since 1990 he worked as a senior researcher at the Aurora cruiser, a branch of the Central Naval Museum . [3] He created and directed the council of veterans - graduates of naval preparatory schools [8] [9] .

He died on October 4, 2004 in St. Petersburg [9] .

During his service, G. N. Avraamov was awarded 24 state awards, including [5] [3] :

  • Order of Nakhimov, 2nd degree (1981);

Family

Georgy Nikolayevich Avraamov was married to Era Pavlovna, nee Tyunkova, the daughter of one of the first Soviet hydrographs of Captain 1st Rank Pavel Alexandrovich Tyunkov. In March 1952, in Leningrad, the daughter of Elena was born into the Abraham family, who later became the wife of a naval officer. In 1960, in Tallinn , a son was born to George and Era Avramov, named after his grandfather Nikolai, who later became a naval officer. Grandchildren Anton and Pavel, just like grandfather and father, graduated from the St. Petersburg Naval Institute (the former Higher Naval School named after MV Frunze) and became naval officers [10] [4] .

Memory

In 1981, marine writer Valentin Savvich Pikul dedicated his book The Three Ages of Okini-san to the Abraham family, where he wrote in the first lines: “The married couple of the Avraamovs - Era Pavlovna and Georgy Nikolaevich, in whose family three generations have been serving the Fatherland on the seas” [11] .
