Biography

In 1574 he left his native village of Tzazo and went to Italy , in 1576 he arrived in Bari , in 1578 he moved to Naples , where he met the local Capuchins, entered their monastery, in 1579 he took monastic vows , was a member of several Capuchin communities, the last of which was monastery-sanatorium Ephraim, Jeremiah served the poor for forty years, took care of the seriously ill and dying, spent nights in prayer in the hospital chapel [4] .

Praise

On September 20, 1625, on the initiative of the Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Decio Carafa, the process of collecting information for beatification was launched, the process was officially initiated by Pope Urban VIII in 1627, and in 1687 Innocent IX the heroic virtues of Jeremiah’s brother. The first blessed biography was published in Italian in 1670 [5] , in 1944 a new book dedicated to Jeremiah was published in Romanian , its author was the Minister of Propaganda Grigore Manoilescu, and in 1947 he discovered a forgotten burial place of the blessed in Naples, which served to resume the process of beatification.

In the post-war years, a lawyer from Bucharest, Felicia Paraskivescu, who lived in Rome , created the "World Society of Jeremiah Wallach Pilgrims of Christian Unity" in order to activate the ideas of ecumenism. She led the movement until her death in 1982 . Branches of the Society operated in Rome , Paris and Lille . The movement was supported by the Apostolic Nuncio in France, Mosigner Roncalli , and the founder and director of Life with God, Irina Posnova, collaborated with him.
