Biography

Born May 25, 1918 in a peasant family on a farm in Yarki, Ostrogozhsky district, Voronezh province. He began his career as a breeder on the collective farms of the Evdakovsky district (today - Kamensky district). In 1936 he graduated from the Ostrogozhsky Pedagogical College, after which he was appointed director of the Ternovskaya elementary school.

In 1939, drafted into the army. He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war . Since 1941, he participated in the Great Patriotic War. After demobilization in 1946, he returned to the Evdakovsky district and worked as the director of the Federal Educational Institution in Kamenka [1] , later as the head of the district department of public education and the deputy of the Evdakovsky district executive committee.

In 1951 he entered the history department of the Voronezh Pedagogical Institute. In 1953 he was directed to party work as an instructor in the Voronezh Regional Committee of the CPSU. After graduating from the Voronezh Regional Party School, he was elected in 1955 the first secretary of the Oktyabrsky District Committee of the CPSU Lipetsk Regional Committee and in 1965, the first secretary of the Lipetsk District CPSU Committee. He was in this position until 1975. For outstanding achievements in the management of social and industrial development of the Lipetsk region in 1971 he was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor.

In 1975, he was elected secretary of the Lipetsk Regional Committee of the CPSU. He was elected as a deputy of the regional Council of People’s Deputies.

In 1984, retired. He was buried in the city cemetery in the vicinity of the Pipe Plant.

Memory

  • In Lipetsk, on the building of the administration of the Lipetsk region, there is a memorial plaque dedicated to Nikolai Bogatyrev [2] .
