The statuette was discovered by a Slovak farmer Stefan Gulman-Petrich, near the village Podkovitsa near Moravany nad Vahom ( sk: Moravany nad Váhom ) in the late 30s of the 20th century [1] and fell into the hands of the German archaeologist Lothar Tsotz during the Second World War who sent her for examination by Henri Breuil to Paris . Only in 1967, Venus was returned back to Slovakia.
According to its external characteristics, temporal correlation (22-23 thousand years ago, the Gravettic culture ) and relatively small distance of the sites of finds, the Moravian Venus is close to the specimens from Willendorf and Dolný Vestonice , which also have underlined fluffy body shapes [2] .
