Tournament position
This was the fourth UFC event held in Houston , after UFC 69 in April 2007, UFC 136 in October 2011 and UFC 166 in October 2013.
The main event of the evening was a duel for the UFC light heavyweight title between current champion Daniel Cormier and main challenger Alexander Gustafsson . Initially, they were supposed to meet at UFC 191 , but the battle was postponed due to a knee injury at Cormier [2] .
As part of the tournament, a battle was to be held between Leslie Smith and Raquel Pennington. However, Smith was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury, and Pennington was moved to UFC 191 , where she met with Jessica Andrade. Derrick Lewis was expected to fight Anthony Hamilton , but Hamilton withdrew from the battle and was replaced by Victor Pest [3] . In one of the main fights of the tournament, a duel was to be held between Joni Hendricks and Tyrone Woodley for the status of contender for the welterweight title. But on the day of weighing, it became known that Hendrix was removed from the battle after hospitalization with an attack of intestinal obstruction and suspected kidney stones caused by problems with weight loss [4] . For this reason, the fight was canceled, and Woodley automatically became a contender for the championship title [5] .
During the weighing procedure, Francisco Trevino did not fit into the proper weight category. He was given extra time, but Trevino made no attempt to lose weight. Instead, he was fined 20% of his fee, which went to his rival [6] .
