Boxing was first included in the Olympic program at the 1904 Games . Competitions were held in 7 weight categories. Boxing was absent at the 1912 Olympics . From the Olympics of 1920 to the present day is an Olympic sport. The number of weight categories and their limit periodically change. At the 2016 Olympics, sets of awards will be played in ten weight categories for men and three for women.
The women's competition was first held in 2012 at the Games in London . Sets of awards were played in three weight categories.
