District Ilava ( Slovak. Okres Ilava ) is a district of the Trenčín Region of Slovakia , bordered by the Czech Republic . The center is the city of Ilawa . A large city is also Dubnica nad Vagom with a suburb, since 1957 an independent city of Nova Dubnica .

History
It was founded in 1923 on the left bank of the Vag River, on which there were no bridges then. By 1949, the district received a form close to modern, and in 1960 it was abolished and became part of the Povazhskaya-Bistrita . It was recreated by the act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 221/1996 in 1996.
