Wenzhou ( Chinese trade. 溫州 , ex. 温州 , pinyin : Wēnzhōu ) is an urban district in Zhejiang Province of China . It borders with the cities of Lishui in the west, Taizhou in the north, from the east it is washed by the East China Sea . The area of the city is 11,784 km² on land and 11,000 km² on the sea, coastline 255 kilometers. GDP per capita is 20,779 yuan (2005).

History
In the 19th century, Wenzhou was a thriving contract port and retains its important economic and transport importance today. Many people from Wenzhou live in Europe and the USA . With good entrepreneurial skills, Wenzhou people tend to engage in restaurant or retail business in the countries to which they emigrated.
Languages
The Wenzhou dialect belongs to the dialect group y , however, the influence of the Minsk dialect is very strong in it. It is believed that the Wenzhou dialect is better than other Chinese dialects preserved the phonetics and syntax of the ancient and Middle Chinese language. All this makes it very difficult to understand and study even for speakers of dialects of the same dialect group.
Population
Wenzhou is called East Jerusalem because of the large number of churches and the high percentage of Christians, one million in nine million inhabitants [1] .

The city is one of China's fastest growing industrial centers. Aima is widely known - a shoe factory, an exporter of products in more than thirty countries of the world.
The city is experiencing a construction boom. The tallest building is the 68-story skyscraper Wenzhou Shopping Center , the Wenzhou Metro is under construction.
