Benno Hollander ( English Benno Hollander , actually Benoit Hollander , FR Benoît Hollander ; June 8, 1853 , Amsterdam - December 27, 1942 , London ) - British violinist , violist, composer and conductor of Dutch descent.

Biography
He graduated from the Paris Conservatory (1873), a student of Lambert Massard (violin) and Camille Saint-Saens (composition). After a series of tours around France, Germany, Russia and the Scandinavian countries, he settled in London in 1876, where he spent his whole life. As an violist, he performed mainly in the ensemble - in particular, in 1879 he participated in the premiere of the piano quartet by Charles Villiers Stanford (with Xaver Sharvenka in the piano part). In 1882-1884 was accompanist with Hans Richter , who presented the German opera program in London. Since 1887, he taught at the Guildhall School of Music , among his students, in particular, John Saunders .
Hollander’s composer's legacy includes the opera The Last Days of Pompeii (1907, not staged), the Roland symphony (1906), two concerts for violin and orchestra, concert for cello and orchestra, septet for piano, strings and two horns, two strings quartet, string and piano trio, a number of compositions for violin and piano.
