Biography
Hermann Gizetti was born on February 10, 1805 in the city of Moscow . He was the son of Narva, and then the Moscow merchant and Moscow stockbroker Anton Adamovich (1763β1841), a descendant of the old Venetian noble family Guizetti di Capoferri , from his marriage with Elizaveta Andreyevna Kruger (1783β1852) [1] .
Givetti received his initial education in pastor Muraltβs exemplary St. Petersburg hostel, where he stayed for two years; after returning to Moscow, he entered Moscow State University as a student , from which he soon transferred to the law faculty of the University of Dorpat , who successfully graduated in 1826 [1] .
In May 1827, he was determined to serve in the special office of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Empire for the credit part, but the St. Petersburg climate adversely affected his health, and therefore in March 1830 he went to work in the Moscow office of the State Commercial Bank as an assistant accountant and occupied this position until February 1834 [1] .
In 1832 he published his dissertation (β Specimen principiorum generalium juris Russiae de delictis et poenis β. Regimontii. 1832, 8 Β°), for which KΓΆnigsberg University awarded him the degree of Doctor of Law [1] .
Meanwhile, Lieutenant-General Sulima N. S. , newly appointed to Eastern Siberia as governor-general, looking for educated young men to serve in Siberia , invited Gizette to go there with him, and he accepted the offer. Soon, however, Sulima was transferred to Western Siberia , and Major-General S. B. Bronevsky was appointed in his place [2] . The latter appreciated the merits of Gizetti and appointed him on August 16, 1834, as an official for special assignments of the Salt Branch of the Irkutsk State Chamber, with the correction of the post of adviser to the Irkutsk provincial government (the last post was approved on September 7); in 1835, he was repeatedly seconded to produce effects in the Trans-Baikal region , Kyakhta and other areas of the region [1] .
In 1837, he moved to St. Petersburg and was first assigned to the executive police department, and then, following the advice of Count Speransky in 1838 to serve in the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Empire , was seconded to a committee to check the law. Upon the closure of this committee, he was appointed in July 1839 as an officer of special assignments of the 6th class under the Ministry of Justice. In August of the same year, he received a position as a teacher of practical criminal justice at the Imperial School of Law and lectured here until February 1844. In January 1840, G. A. Gizetti was approved as the head of the 1st department of the Ministry of Justice, which he corrected from July of the previous year, and held it until January 1841, when he was appointed official of special assignments of the 5th class [1] .
In June 1842, G. Gizetti went to serve in the office of the State Secretary at the acceptance of the manufacturer's requests for expedition cases of the consideration of all complaints to decisions of civil court departments of the Governing Senate [1] .
On August 16, 1844, German Antonovich Gizetti was promoted to state councilor , and on April 23, 1850, to full state councilor [1] .
On November 8, 1856, he was appointed as a legal advisor to the Commercial Bank, retaining special assignments as an official, on January 5, 1863, appointed a member of the consultation at the Ministry of Justice, April 17 of the same year, served as secret advisers , and on June 13 of that year he was ordered to be present in the Government Senate [1] .
Gizetti was present first in Mezhevoy (1863), then in the Fourth (1864β1871), from 1871 to 1878 in the civil cassation departments, from 1878 in the 1st branch of the 3rd department, finally in 1880β1881 . in the general meeting of the 3rd, 4th and Mezhevoe departments) [1] .
Since the appointment of Senator Gizetti was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir 4th (1863) and 2nd degree (1870) and the Order of St. Anna 1st degree (1866) [1] .
G. A. Gizetti was a multi-educated man, he read a lot in different branches of knowledge and, until his last days, followed all the events in the world with scientists and state officials, but being extremely modest, did not like to stand out and expose his knowledge to outsiders . He always led a quiet life, almost exclusively with family and friends. In official matters he always put truth and justice above everything. His kindness involuntarily attracted everyone to him. Heavy training in the rank of senator of the civil cassation department broke down Gizetti's health, prompting him to ask in 1880 to transfer to the general meeting of the 3rd, 4th and Mezhevoe departments, where he had already been present for a short time [1] .
German Antonovich Gizetti died on February 8, 1881 and was buried in St. Petersburg at the Novodevichy Cemetery at the Resurrection Novodevichy Monastery [1] .
Family
In 1836, German Antonovich Gizetti married the daughter of Governor-General Varvara Semenovna Bronevskaya [1] .
Gizetti left two sons: Anton (1843β1890; served under the judicial department) and Anatoly (1846β1909; senator), and two daughters: Seraphim (born in 1838, married to secret adviser IK Renar) and Evgeny (born in 1842, married Ridiger) [1] .
