The village of Podgornoye appeared at the end of the 16th century at Lake Podgorny (now Krugloye Lake ), the old man of Don . In the “ Watch Book ” of 1615 there were 2 Cossack yards and 18 Bobyl yards in this village. In 1650, the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built here.
During World War II , fierce battles took place in the village. The village several times passed from hand to hand. About these battles recalls 2 mass graves of soldiers who died on this earth.
