History
Mentioned on the Swedish "General Map of the Province of Ingermanlandia " of 1704, as the village of Samotsby [3] .
On the map of the St. Petersburg Governorate of J.F. Schmitt of 1770, the village of Zamostye is indicated . [four]
The village of Bolshaya Zamoe of 25 courtyards is mentioned on the "Topographic Map of the Neighborhoods of St. Petersburg" by F. F. Schubert in 1831 [5] .

According to the map of F. F. Schubert in 1844 and the map of S. S. Kutorgi in 1852, the village of Bolshoi Zamoć counted 24 courtyards [7] [8] .
On the ethnographic map of the St. Petersburg province of P.I. Köppen in 1849, it is referred to as the village of “Samosti”, inhabited by Ingaklanders - Sawakots [9] .
In the explanatory text to the ethnographic map, it is recorded as the village of Samosti ( Bolshoy Zamoie ), as well as the number of its inhabitants for 1848: 91 meters, p. 99. n., a total of 190 people [10] .

According to the map of 1879, the village was called Bolshoi Zamost and consisted of 27 peasant households [14] .
In 1885, the village again counted 22 courtyards.
In the XIX century, the village administratively belonged to the Mozinsky volost of the 1st camp of Tsarskoye Selo district of St. Petersburg province, at the beginning of the XX century - the 4th camp.
In 1913 there were already 44 yards [15] .
From 1917 to 1923, the village of Bolshoy Zamosc was part of the Zamostsky Village Council of the Mozinskaya Volost of the Detskoye Selo district .
Since 1923, as part of the Gatchina parish of Gatchina district .
Since 1928, as part of the Kolpansky Village Council. In 1928, the population of the village of Bolshoe Zamost was 529 people [16] .

In 1997, 5,674 people lived in the village of Novy Svet of the Prigorodnaya volost, in 2002 - 5,553 (Russian - 91%) [22] [23] .

The village is located in the northern part of the district on the 41K-223 highway (Kievskoye Highway - Pizhma ), near the Milling Station on the Mga - Gatchina line .

Pig-breeding complex "New World"
In the village of Novy Svet, the pig-breeding complex is named, which is located in the neighboring village of Korguzi . The first buildings were built in 1975-1977. Subsequently, it became the largest in Europe. In the 1990s, the company experienced a crisis. Then it was acquired by the Moscow OJSC Rosagroregion, which in 2003 reconstructed the production. Today, 450 people work at the pig farm. After the “New World”, the meat is sent to the village of Big Kolpany , where the meat-processing production of the same “Rosagroregion” is located [25] .

- Memorial "Star" . Located near the House of Culture. It was built in 1982-1983 in memory of the workers who were killed here in 1941 by the militia workers of the GOMZ, KINAP and Progress factories [28] .

Champagne is produced under the brand names "Northern Venice", "Madame Tussauds" and "Russian". Production of cahors and table wines from imported wine materials has been launched [29] .
