Biography
Kim Imi Teresa was born in 1811 into a Catholic family in Seoul. At the age of 17, she decided to devote herself to God and to do works of mercy. So that her unmarried life would not arouse suspicion, she got a job as a seamstress in the prince's court, where she worked for three years. In 1845, she participated in a divine service, during which the first Korean, Kim Dae Gon Andrei, was ordained a priest. On July 10, 1846, she was arrested along with Susanna U , Agatha Lee, and Catherine Chon when they were in hiding in Karl Hyun's house. She was tortured in prison, from which she died on September 20, 1846. On the same day in prison died from strangulation or beating Lavrenti Khan , Joseph Im and Peter Nam .
Kim Imi Teresa was beatified on July 5, 1925 by Pope Pius XI and canonized on May 6, 1984 by Pope John Paul II along with a group of 103 Korean martyrs .
