As part of the U-19 team, he became the winner, silver and bronze medalist of the Ukrainian Championship among junior teams (in which he held 53 meetings and scored 4 goals in 3 seasons), as well as the finalist of the UEFA Youth League in the 2014/15 season , playing in including, in the final match of the tournament against the London team Chelsea [3] .

Nikolai himself commented on his debut in the championship as follows [6] :

- I am very glad that the coaching staff entrusted me with a place in the starting lineup. The team supported me, all without exception helped. Nevertheless, I was still a little worried. On the whole, they found mutual understanding with Sasha Kucher , he also prompted me some things during the match. Sasha is an experienced football player, confidence comes from him. We insured each other, as central defenders should act. If one goes forward, the other remains behind. I am also glad that we managed to win today, without conceiving goals in our own goal. In the locker room they congratulated each other and wished everyone good luck in the national teams.

In August 2015, he first received a call to the youth team , for which he played on August 11 in a friendly match with Dynamo 2 , having entered the field in the second half [7] . On October 8, he was in the “youth team” application for the Euro-2017 qualifying match against Iceland , however, he spent the whole game on the bench [8] , similarly remained in reserve and on October 13 in the qualifying match against France [9] .
