Biography
He started fighting in his hometown, but soon moved to Gothenburg , where he joined the Γrgryte IS club.
In 1955 he remained the fourth at the World Championships.
At the Summer Olympics in 1956 in Melbourne fought in the middleweight (up to 79 kilograms). Under the rules of the tournament, the wrestler received penalty points in clashes. The athlete who collected 5 penalty points was eliminated from the tournament. Title challenged 10 wrestlers.
Rune Jansson, having lost in the first meeting to the future champion Givi Kartosia , nevertheless managed to get to the final. Having won in the fourth round, he scored 5 penalty points, but continued the tournament, because he won a competitor in a personal meeting, also claiming to participate in the final. In the final round, he lost the fight for "silver", thus winning the bronze medal of the Olympic Games.
