Petrie Crater ( lat. Petrie ) - a large young impact crater in the northern hemisphere of the far side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the Canadian astronomer Robert Metven Petri (1906-1966) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the crater are the Fabry and Harkebi craters in the west-south-west; Svan Crater in the northeast; Raye Crater in the east and Sisakyan Crater in the south [3] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 32.9 km [4] , depth 2.1 km [1] .
Petri Crater has a polygonal shape with a protrusion in the southwestern part and is practically not destroyed. A shaft with a clearly defined sharp edge and a smooth inner slope. At the foot of the inner slope are scree of rocks. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 950 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 770 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, without noticeable structures.
