Apparently, the Rufus family came from Italy, presumably from Verona . Obviously, he was a grandson on the maternal side of the 45-year-old consul sufferer and historian Mark Cluvius Ruth . The only thing that is known about Rufus' career is that in 80, he served as consul-suffice .
Two letters of Pliny the Younger are addressed to him. In one [1] he asks Ruf to tell the inhabitants of Betica that he will not be able to protect the inhabitants of this province in court from extortion of the governor, in the second [2] he reproaches him for not wanting to publish his works.
