Biography

Born in the village of Kozlovsky, Pokrovsky volost, Livensky district, Orel province (currently Pokrovsky district, Orel region ) in a peasant family. He graduated from the 7th grade of the school. In 1929, he moved with his family to the city of Makeyevka, Stalin Region . He worked as a mechanic at Makeevsky Pipe Foundry. In September 1940, the Pudozh regional military enlistment office of Karelia was drafted into the Red Army .

Since June 1942 on the fronts of World War II . Member of the Battle of Stalingrad . He fought on the Don, Stalingrad, South-West, Central, 1st Belorussian fronts.

On July 9, 1943, in the Battle of Kursk at the Ponyry station, ordinary gunner of the 5th battery gun, Private Semenov, with his own calculation, knocked out 4 enemy tanks and scattered the guns of the enemy to the enemy company. By order on the Central Front of July 18, 1943, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree .

On July 18, 1944, during the breakthrough of the enemy’s defense near the village of Dolsk, Turiysky district, Volyn region, at an altitude of 204.6, under the fire of the enemy guard, Sergeant Major Semyonov fired heavily at the enemy, bringing down more than 200 shells at him. At the same time, he destroyed 1 artillery battery, 2 anti-tank guns, 3 machine guns, scattered and partially destroyed the enemy soldiers to the company. By order of the 15th Guards Cavalry Division of July 30, 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On August 26, 1944, reflecting the enemy’s counterattack on the bridgehead on the left bank of the Vistula, Guard Sergeant Major Semenov drove his gun at a distance of 200 meters to the enemy machine gunners and opened fire on them. When the gunner was wounded, he himself stood up to the panorama and, in spite of the enemy’s fire, controlled the fire. When the machine gunners broke through to the gun, he took personal weapons with the calculation numbers and entered into battle with the enemy soldiers, destroying 20 soldiers. The counterattack was repulsed, and the enemy failed to capture the dominant height. By order of the troops of the 1st Belorussian Front of September 21, 1944, the foreman Semenov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

On January 7, 1945, in a battle near the village of Polesie, when enemy shells hit one of the shell niches, several boxes with shells were broken, gunpowder from the broken shells ignited, and the flame began to approach other boxes. Guards foreman Semenov with one of the calculation numbers, despite the danger to life, began to extinguish the fire and evacuate the surviving shell boxes. By order of the troops of the 1st Belorussian Front of February 19, 1945, the foreman Semenov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner .

On January 14, 1945, during the breakthrough of the enemy’s defense near the settlements of Piskoruv and Psilenk near the city of Pulawy in the Lublin Voivodeship, the calculation of the foreman’s guard Semyonov crushed 2 enemy guns, a machine gun and scattered 2 enemy infantry platoons, which contributed to the advancement of infantry. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

March 1, 1945, the calculation of the foreman’s guard Semyonov entered into an unequal battle with 4 self-propelled guns and one tank. With the fire of his gun, Semyonov knocked out 2 self-propelled guns with their calculations, and one hid behind the houses where it was destroyed by well-aimed gun fire. Another self-propelled gun was left by the crew. By order of the 1st Belorussian Front on April 19, 1945, the foreman Semenov was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree.

Petty Officer Semenov was discharged in October 1946. He returned to Makeevka, worked at the pipe plant as a foreman. April 6, 1985 in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Victory as a participant in the Great Patriotic War was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree.

He died on December 13, 1987.
