Biography

Born July 22, 1921 in the city of Odessa . In 1939 he was drafted into the Red Army. He served as the commander of department 251 OSB, the deputy platoon commander of the 55th engineering battalion, the platoon commander of the fighter detachment 5 of the tank corps. In September 1941, with a group of fighters, he was sent behind enemy lines to the Smolensk region with an intelligence mission. Once surrounded, he joined the partisan detachment, which later joined the Grandfather’s partisan division, where he was appointed chief of intelligence of the 3rd battalion of the 3rd partisan regiment. In April 1942 he was transferred by the group commander to a special-purpose sabotage detachment of the OO NKVD of the Western Front, operating in the Smolensk Region, where he served until October of that year.

The commissar of the Sumy-Vinnitsa partisan formation D. T. Burchenko describes his intelligence commissar, senior lieutenant E. Volyansky: - “Volyansky is a real idol of youth. And, however, almost all partisans of the compound knew and loved him. He was a brave scout, a calm, judicious fighter who did not get lost in any situation. He performed the most difficult and risky tasks of the command. Eugene could in winter, without fear of icy water, reach the opposite bank of the river, he could, if necessary, freeze in the ice, lie for hours without movement in front of the Nazis, just not to betray himself and his comrades. He knew how to stay awake when others could no longer cope with a nap. And, on the contrary, he could fall asleep, hardly a suitable minute of calm was given out for this. To all this, Volyansky was a cheerful and witty guy, a wonderful comrade whom you can always rely on. For their commissar, the fighters went on the most difficult tasks. "(D. Burchenko, T. Raid to the Southern Bug [1])

In February 1943, he landed in the partisan unit of Colonel Melnik , where he served as commissar of the reconnaissance unit until April 1944. In August 1944, by order of the USPD, he landed in Slovakia , where he created the Slovak partisan brigade "For Freedom of the Slavs" and commanded it before joining In February 1945, during the operation of the brigade, the Soviet Army destroyed more than 3,000 enemy soldiers and officers, captured 60 people, destroyed 23 tanks, 53 cars, 3 railway trains, and destroyed 27 bridges.
