General Leroy Philip Hunt ( born LeRoy Philip Hunt ; March 17, 1892 - February 8, 1968) is a member of the United States Army Marine Corps General who commanded the 2nd Marine Corps Division at the end of World War II.

Biography
Hunt was born in 1892 in Newark, New Jersey, and was a graduate of the University of California. He was awarded the rank of second lieutenant in 1917, and he served with great distinction in the ranks of the 5th Marine Regiment during the First World War, receiving the Naval Cross and the Cross "For Outstanding Merits" for repeated acts of heroism. His post-war missions were diverse, ranging from the duties of the detachment commander to protect the Western Postal Service, and work in the colonization service in Alaska.
After a short trip to Iceland, he was given command of the 5th Marine Regiment, which he commanded during the early stages of the Battle of Guadalcanal. As an assistant commander of the 2nd Marine Division, he participated in mopping-up operations in Saipan and Tinian, and in the Okinawa campaign. Headed the 2nd division, participated in the occupation of Japan, and then commanded the 1st Army Corps. Returning to the United States, Hunt took over as commander of the Navy and Marine Corps in the Atlantic.
He died in 1968.
