Plow (lunar crater)

Paschen ( lat. Paschen ) - a large ancient impact crater in the equatorial region of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the German experimental physicist Friedrich Paschen (1865-1940) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. Crater Description

The vicinity of the Pashen Crater. A fragment of the map of the far side of the moon [2] .

The closest neighbors of the crater are the Galois Crater in the west; Mechnikov crater in the west-north-west; Wang Gu Crater in the north; Ioffe Crater in the east; Sternfeld crater in the south and Lodygin crater in the southwest [3] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 127.4 km [4] , depth 2.9 km [1] .

Pashen Crater is significantly destroyed and turned into a lowering area with difficult to distinguish boundaries. The western-south-western part of the shaft is overlain by the Pashen S satellite crater, the southern - by the Pashen M satellite crater, the north-western part of the shaft is cut by a short chain of craters, and the northern - by an intermittent chain of craters. The inner slope of the rampart is wide, in the eastern part weak fragments of a terrace-like structure are visible. The bottom of the crater bowl is crossed, marked by small craters.
