Biography
He was born on August 9, 1902 in the village of Uspenskoye (now the Stanovlyansky district of the Lipetsk region ). In 1918 he went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He participated in the battles of the Civil War. In 1920 he graduated from military courses. Since 1921 he served in the Navy of the Soviet Republic. In 1926, Zubkov graduated from parallel courses at the Naval College named after M.V. Frunze . He served on the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Navy of the USSR . In the 1930s, commanded various gunboats and destroyers . In November 1938, the destroyer "Moscow" , commanded by Zubkov, delivered a government delegation of the USSR to the funeral of Turkish President Kemal Ataturk . Since September 1940 he commanded the cruiser "Red Crimea" [2] .
In the initial period of World War II, Zubkov led the installation of minefields, escorting transports, and artillery support for troops. Participated in the defense of Odessa and Sevastopol . The crew of the cruiser "Red Crimea" was especially distinguished during the Kerch-Feodosia operation , receiving the honorary title "Guards" . He also participated in the battle for the Caucasus [2] .
In April 1944, Zubkov was appointed commander of the cruiser "Murmansk" of the Northern Fleet of the Navy of the USSR Armed Forces, and in November of the same year - commander of the Novorossiysk Naval Base , with the rank of captain of the 1st rank . During the Soviet-Japanese war, he commanded the Peter and Paul and Vladimir-Olginsk naval bases . In the postwar period he continued to serve in the USSR Navy. In August 1956, Zubkov resigned as Rear Admiral. He lived in Sevastopol . He died on August 21, 1978, and was buried in the cemetery of Kommunarov in Sevastopol [2] .
