Khaled Khoja (born July 4, 1965, Damascus ) is an active member of the Syrian opposition , and since January 5, 2015, he has been chairman of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces , a group uniting moderate opposition to the government of Bashar al-Assad (as opposed to radical Islamist formations). He resigned on April 25, 2018 [1] .

Biography
Khaled Hodge was born in Damascus in 1965. Syrian Turkmen by nationality. During the reign in Syria, President Hafez Asad Hodge was twice detained. After that he went to Turkey, where he studied medicine at the University of Izmir . He graduated from the university in 1994.
When protests began against the rule of Bashar al-Assad in 2011, Khaled Khoja took an active part in them. In March 2011, he created the organization "Platform for Solidarity with the Syrian People", and in October 2011 he became one of the founders of the " Syrian National Council ."
On January 5, 2015, Khaled Khoja was elected chairman of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces , defeating the Secretary-General of the coalition, Nasser al-Hariri . Prior to being elected chairman of the coalition, Khoja was its representative in Turkey [2] [3] . On August 3, 2015, Khaled Khoja was re-elected Chairman of the National Coalition [4] .
On August 14, 2015, after a meeting in Moscow with the Russian Foreign Minister, Khaled Khoja said that Russia's position on the Syrian crisis has become more flexible, which can help resolve the conflict. At the same time, Khoja emphasized that the coalition does not agree with the participation of President Assad in any transitional authorities [5] [6] [7] .
On September 30, 2015, at a jubilee meeting of the UN General Assembly , Khaled Khoja commented on Russia 's joining the bombing of ISIS positions, accusing the Russian air forces of civilian casualties as a result of the bombing of territories north of the city of Homs , where there were no ISIS and al-Qaeda soldiers [ 8] [9] .
On April 25, 2018, he resigned from his post in protest against the fact that Russia took control of negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Syria [10] .
