Title

The name of the bridge is given by the name of the Kronverksky Strait. A sharp bend of the bridge surface, providing a sufficient height of the middle navigable span, caused the emergence of another, unofficial, name - “humpback” [1] .

History

The bridge was built in 1938 in connection with the expansion of the Gosnardom garden [1] according to the project of engineer P. P. Stepnov [2] . The bridge initially had a metal overlap just above the navigable span. In 1978, the repair and construction department of Lenmosttrest overhauled the bridge: all the spans were blocked by metal beams, the wooden flooring was divided into sidewalks and the roadway [3] [4] . According to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of 10.07.2001 No. 527, the Kronverksky bridge is an object of historical and cultural heritage of federal significance [5] . In September 2015, the bridge was declared emergency. According to the report of St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise Mostotrest, the decay of individual elements of the bridge was 79% [6] . Work on the liquidation of accidents was completed before June 2016 [7] .

Design

The bridge is nine-span girder. Wooden frame bridge piers on a pile base. In each support two rows of six piles are driven in [3] . The span consists of metal I-beams. Covering the roadway and sidewalks - plank flooring. Wooden railings.

The length of the bridge along the back wall of the foundations is 57.5 m, the width of the bridge between the railing is 8.8 m [3] [2] .
