Rossia mollicella (lat.) Is a species of cephalopod mollusks of the genus Rossia from the family sepiolida (Sepiolidae) [1] [2] .

Distribution

Pacific Ocean (northwestern part), including coastal waters of Japan . They are found at depths from 729 to 805 m [1] [3] .

Description

Small cephalopods, up to 36 mm [3] and 40 mm [4] long. Tentacles with an extended uncurved mace. Hectocotylized both dorsal arms. Gladius is developed. Luminous organs on the ink sac and papilloid glands on the sides of the rectum are absent. The head and front edge of the mantle do not fuse on the dorsal side [5] [6] . The species was first described in 1920 by zoologist M. Sasaki [7] . It is included in the list of the IUCN International Red Book in the status of LC (Least Concern) [8] .
